no, that's not possible. My chat aims to be a fully fledged chat, not a shoutbox. It contains several features that only make sense if the chat is on it's own page. In fact I experimented with a shoutbox integrated into the chat with version 2 (for Burning Board 3) of it. It really really was not a good user experience and a lot of work to keep it working.

How about adding a box that displays on the forum pages (main page, thread view, and post page) when someone is in a chat room? just like what's displayed on the dashboard page?

this will be possible with the upcoming chat for WSC. Boxes can be freely placed anywhere.
